Dean at the European Darts Trophy in Germany

THE European Darts Trophy kicks off on Friday, with the first round being held in one bumper session at the Kohlrabizirkus in Leipzig, Germany.

The £100,000 tournament is the year’s final European Tour event, featuring 48 players competing across the weekend, and Dean is won of those players, after he qualified for the event earlier in the year.

Dean plays on day 1, against young Dutch player Gino Vos.

A dominant display from Dean, he seems to be getting better as the tournament goes on.  Winstanley completes the win in style by taking out 148 on double 14 for a 12-dart leg, with his 6-2 victory setting up a quarter-final with Peter Wright.

A fantastic tournament for Dean, and losing to the world champ and world number 1 is no disgrace.
