Dean Back In Action; PDC German Darts Championship
THE PDC ProTour returns to action this weekend with the year’s sixth European Tour event, the German Darts Championship at Halle 39 in Hildesheim.
The 64-player, £100,000 tournament will be the first ranking tournament since July’s BetVictor World Matchplay in Blackpool, and will see play across three days at Halle 39, which is staging its first event.
The first round will be split across two sessions on Friday, with play held on two stages at the venue. The second round will be held on Saturday, with the third round on Sunday afternoon before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final take place on Sunday evening.
Dean Winstanley joins the action after qualifying earlier this year, and plays in the first session, Friday afternoon, against Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall. Unfortunately this tournament is NOT on TV, but we will update scores here as they happen.
Don’t forget you can also see Dean in action on 28th September at his ‘Over the Top‘ exhibition, with seven other great players in Barnsley.. some tickets are still available, so come along and see Dean (and get a photo with him and the other pros).
2013 German Darts Championship
September 6-8, Halle 39, Hildesheim
Round 1: Dean Winstanley 5-6 Dave Chisnall
After a blistering start from both players, the differences is doubles.. as Chizzy races into a 4-0 lead with both players averaging 100+ Then a 121 c/o and Deano gets back in the game a little, unders massive pressure after 7 perfect darts from Chizzy! At 5-3 down.. Dean against throw hits 180, 180.. but there is no 9 darter, but he gets a leg (Chizzy had 67 to win!), Dean is now only 4-5 down. Dean then brings it to a nail biting finish by holding and bringing it level. Chizzy just holds on at the end to win.. 11×180’s in 11 legs in that game, which is massive. It was probably the early missed doubles by Deano the difference between them.
