2013 Pro Tour Starts; Tough Times in Crawley

The first long weekend of the 2013 Pro Tour took part in Crawley, and Dean joined the MANY players trying to qualify for both the first Euro Tour event (UK Master), and the UK Open in Bolton.

The large entry numbers meant long days (and Friday night), which makes it tough for any player to keep the right levels of concentration.  Some players had 3-4 hours between their first game and second – never ideal.

UK Masters Qualifiers

Rnd 1:  Dean Winstanley 6-3 Michael Mansell
Rnd 2:  Andy Pearce 6-5 Dean Winstanley

A winning start but Dean just failed to qualify for Minehead – which he was obviously disappointed about.  Dean will cheer on his team-mates Stuart Kellett and Daryl Gurney who both made the finals.

UK Open Qualifiers – Day 1

Rnd 1:  Dean Winstanley 6-5 Darron Brown
Rnd 2:  Barrie Bates 6-3 Dean Winstanley

Dean played and lost to the gentleman Barry Bates, who was playing well – which no-one would take away from the man.  £200 won towards UK Open qualification (approx £600 SHOULD be enough).

UK Open Qualifiers – Day 2

Prelim:  Simon Whitlock 6-1 Dean Winstanley

Unfortunately due to the completely open draw, Dean found himself up against one of the form players of the weekend, who put on an awesome show in winning.
